Kickapoo Water Supply and Wastewater Treatment Facilities - Harrah, Oklahoma
Services:Preliminary Engineering Water and Wastewater Construction Documents Stormwater Management Plan Site Evaluation Tank Design Through a cooperative effort by the Environmental Protection Agency and Oklahoma Department of Water Resources, this project was fast-tracked to be designed and constructed within a 9 month period to coincide with the opening of the casino and resort.
The water pump station utilized variable frequency drive with an analog input from the distribution system to control the pressure of the system. Using a programmable logic controller (PLC), the operators were able to set the desired pressure to be maintained within the distribution system based on the analog input by ramping the pumps up and down depending upon the demand within the system. The PLC controls also sensed the high demands required during fire conditions and started the fire pump to provide protection from both the new casino and the existing housing authority for the reservation. The water wells allowed the Kickapoo Tribe to increase their water supply to a level required to provide adequate service to their housing authority for the first time. The new casino will provide the Kickapoo Tribe with a much needed revenue stream to afford basic water and sewer service to the housing authority for the reservation.
