Jamestown, settled in 1607, was the first permanent English settlement in the Americas. Beginning in May 2006, the entire nation will take part in an 18-month celebration commemorating the 400th Anniversary of the colonization of this historic town. Jamestown Settlement encompasses Historic Jamestown, site of the original fort, a living history museum and additional visitor facilities.

Bury provided civil, environmental and surveying services for the site. Civil engineering services included the development of a storm water master plan for the festival park and the development of construction documents for the marine railway, riverfront pathway, Indian Village, James Fort, Jamestown Entrance Plaza and other riverfront amenities. Environmental engineering services included an environmental impact review and wetlands delineation.

Over the 18-month period, anticipated attendance ranges from 250 to 50,000 for each of the 100 events planned. Infrastructure and site redesign provided by Bury will help accommodate all visitors to this historic national site.
