Storm Ranch has had a significant positive impact on Central Texas watersheds because of the clean storm water runoff from the open space rangeland. The ranch provides important habitat for a diverse wildlife population.

Representatives of Hill Country Conservancy approached the Storm family and began a year-long negotiation that resulted in a contract allowing Hill Country Conservancy to purchase most of the development rights of the property from the Storm family, thus conserving the natural environment and ranching legacy of this beautiful Hill Country ranch.

This land transaction is historic in that it was the largest single land conservation transaction of the Hill Country Conservancy at the time, and certainly one of the largest conservation easements in Central Texas at the time.  This deal served as a model for other property owners in the aquifer region to conserve the water quality and quantity and flora and fauna of the aquifer region, while ensuring that land owners' financial and estate planning needs are met.
