Lions Park Swimming Pool - Temple, TexasServices:Study and Report The existing pool was constructed on the shifting soils of the Eagle Ford formation in the City of Temple. The shrink-swell potential of these soils cause movement based on the antecedent moisture condition of the soils. The instability of these soils created major structural problems in concrete structures around the City. Bury prepared a report focusing on the existing condition of the swimming pool, potential short term and long term remedies available to the City and recommendations for future actions on the pool.
While the pool has undergone some structural deterioration over the years, the pool remains serviceable in the short-term. Cracks in the pool can be mitigated with a maintenance program. Long-term, the report recommended replacement of the pool on a site more suitable to this type of construction and use. Bury provided inspections of the structure and filter gallery along with recommendations to provide the City of Temple with information needed to budget for the needs of this facility.
